Tour Overview

We have been asked by some of our regular participants to put together a special tour of Scandinavia and the Baltics. Our retiring CEO, Mark Goodwin, has agreed to develop and lead this program and we are inviting those of you who may want to join this very special event to register for details.

Scandinavia is often considered a homogenous group of countries: Sweden, Denmark and Norway. Our 15 night tour considers the similarities but also explores the differences between the very diverse areas of this fascinating region. In Denmark we discover the history and culture of Zealand Island in the wonderful capital Copenhagen and its surrounding fairytale royal castles and charming countryside. In Sweden, we learn about the historic city of Gothenburg and the great fighting force of the Reformation in the attractive medieval port capital city, Stockholm. In Norway, we explore both Viking and modern traditions. We stay in the Norwegian capital, Oslo, and also experience “Norway in a Nutshell” as we travel by train and boat to the outstanding Fiord lands around Grieg's city of Bergen where we explore not only this historic Hanseatic city but the incredibly attractive fjords with their dramatic scenery and unique way of life.

Please note that if you chose to combine this Scandinavian Discovery with our Discover the Baltic States tour, we include the overnight ferry (with cabin) from Stockholm to Turku in Finland as well as an overnight with sightseeing in the former Finnish capital, as well as all transfers to commence our Baltic tour in Helsinki!

This program includes placeswhich can only be explored on foot and where walking tours may be a little longer and not always on the flat. Accommodation may have some stairs and or have some rooms which may involve some walking to access.
All our programs naturally involve some walking in order to discover better the places visited and, although we arrange porterage where this is available, participants are expected to be able to handle their own bags. Our program leaders will always try to make as much of the program as possible available for those who find walking longer distances, uphill or down steps difficult but, in same places, this cannot always be avoided.
If you have any concerns at all about your level of fitness, please do not hesitate to talk to us and discuss further with the experts who know the particular demands of each program.
